Sandakphu Trek is a great and spectacular walk through the ridgeline coming down from Kanchenjunga massif all along the border between India and Nepal.
What makes this trek so beautiful is the chance to see part of the Himalayan range including peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. The last peak is a constant beauty always in front of you.
Unlike the other treks in Sikkim, like Goechala or Dzongri, Sandakphu offers the possibility to stay in tea houses along the way, so that you can breath the local culture. Tibetan settlements and villages are some of the last traces of the old Tibetan culture left on Himalayas.
Sandakphu trek is also very interesting from a naturalistic point of view. The diversity of flora and fauna is incredible. As you go from 1500 to 4000 meters you really see the environment changing. This makes it a great chance for spotting Red Pandas, and multiple different birds. It is indeed an ideal choice for the bird watching lovers. Forest is covered by beautiful rhododendron trees and charming magnolias.
Trek is 45km long and reach the altitude of 12000ft.
